Michael Woodley, principal of Woodley Architectural Group in Littleton, Colorado, collaborated with John Burns Real Estate Consulting to apply consumer research to an attainable home that reflects the way people live today. The 2,500-square-foot home was carefully designed to fit into any market and is aimed at first-time move-up buyers.
Woodley’s floor plan is internally focused to create a feeling that the home is a sanctuary. Indoor-outdoor living is optimized with an entry courtyard that includes a swimming pool and a patio in addition to a backyard with an outdoor kitchen and ample room for dining and relaxing. The house has large windows and glass doors to provide as much natural light as possible. A detached casita at the front of the property can function as a fully outfitted guest house, home office, ADU, or additional hangout space.
Inside, the kitchen, dining and living area opens completely to the rear patio. Health and cleanliness, which are even more important to buyers today, are enhanced by a “clean” room at the family entrance from the garage that includes a sink for washing hands as well as storage for shoes and outerwear. The adjacent pantry includes additional storage for food and other supplies. The main level also includes a flexible room near the kitchen that can be used as an office or a playroom.
Upstairs, a spacious primary suite includes a large bath and double closets as well as a nearby home office. A glass-enclosed fitness room has enough space to accommodate a stationary exercise bike and a guided workout area. And, each secondary bedroom includes a remote learning space.
